My 1st grader is rough and tumble and he goes through shoes like nobody's business. I don't know if it's poor quality or just my son's use, but he has burned through 2 pairs of Nike's in under a month each. Skechers seem to be the only shoes he can wear daily and not have fall apart. What's nice about these is Amazon carries them in half sizes. I haven't been able to find that anywhere but the Skechers store for about another $10 higher. Regarding the lights, one shoe lights up yellow and red, the other lights up blue and green. They come with a little button on the back outside of each shoe that turns the lights off. I think that's also the way you have to change the colors. In other words, I haven't noticed them change colors just by walking; they light up the same. But when I push the button it does change them. That can give it better color combos. I'm going to double-check today and see if that's really true. Highly recommend these!Grandson age 8 loves his shoes, he picked them out. He likes having the option of changing the colors. The soles look overwhelming at first but I think they will provide good traction and will not quickly wear out as some soles on his other shoes did. Grandson has a narrow foot, the shoe could use a longer velcro strip to tighten it up, as on other Sketcher shoe styles. But, it hasn't been a problem so far. All in all Skechers brand puts out a good shoe, we have bought styles for the grandson and all have been a success. We bought these shoes because my son loved the light-up aspect and the fact that you could change the color of the lights, but this feature never worked perfectly. When they arrived, only one of the shoes changed colors when you pushed the button, but my son loved them so much, we didn't return them. We've had these less than 4 months, and they do get daily wear, but they have held up the worst of any brand of shoe we have ever owned. They look terrible. The blue stuff on the toe of the shoe is wearing off and exposing the white underneath and the front is also coming undone. They still fit, but we are replacing and will just have to throw them away. If you need lightup shoes, buy a cheap pair from Target for less than half the price, they will probably last longer. Also, one of the shoes now has a partial light that stays on all the time, so I'm sure it will burn out shortly.I bought these shoes for my youngest grandson last Fall and they were such a hit that I bought the same shoes for my older grandson in January, 2015. The toes of the shoes bought in January wore out in less than a month (while the first pair wore well, even after 7 months)! The blue plastic embossed material in the toe area did not hold up to a 5 year old's play. I spoke to the company and was told that this was a manufacturer's defect that has been fixed on the new shoes. So, I returned the worn shoes to Amazon and ordered a new pair direct from Sketchers. I received them this week, and the blue embossed materials looks just the same on the new ones as on the ones that wore right out, whereby the shoes bought last Fall appear to have a hard, clear plastic covering on the blue embossed material. Which may be why the first pair wore so well, and the second pair did not. So, we will try again. The problem I may have, however, is that the new pair is a size larger than the first pair, so we will not know if they wear well until he grows into them! Darn.I bought these for my son he loves them we have had them for a week and no problems so far is was helpful from the other reviews to know that each shoe only has two diffrent colors so i could prepare my 6yr old for the dissapointment of not have 4 lights in each show he still loves them now to see how long they will lastThese are fancy shoes!!! My boy loves them and they fit well. Only disappointment was one shoe lights up either red or orange and the other shoe lights up green or blue. I assumed from pics that both shoes lite up blue. My boy loves being able to punch the button to change colors. The shoes are a hit but they seemed a little tight. I'm sure they'll stretch out after wearing them a few times. My grandson had no complaints so I figured they were fine.Bought as a gift for grandson. he loved them.Very disappointed in these shoes. I got them on the 18th of February and it is now March 9th and they are falling apart. Terrible design on the front of the shoe which is causing the fabric/plastic to be coming off already. I understand they are bieng worn by a 5 year old boy but really expect a shoe to last 6-12 months not less than a month! Unacceptablelight up is wonky - one shoe works properly, the other one does what it wants. It was good as long as it lasted. Not even 4 months and the front and soles are all damaged. Unless you are buying it just for lights I do not recommend this product.
